Rose Meadows located on route 431 on the left side of the road.  Enjoy this beautiful walk along Ophir Creek.  See the small rainbow trout that live in the creek.  The trail is a board walk through the meadow.  You may also enjoy veering off the board walk onto the Tahoe Rim Trail up to the Incline Village overlook that grants beautiful views of all of Lake Tahoe.

Picnic Rock

Picnic Rock

Picnic Rock on the famous switchback Tahoe Rim Trail begins on Highway 267 just south of Brockway Summit.  Follow the trail until you reach the fork with the sign. Then go left up to Picnic Rock.  Enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the entire Truckee Meadows.  This is an excellent place to pack a lunch and relax in the sunshine and the route is approximately three miles roundtrip.

This steep trail hike takes you up the side of Maggie’s Peak into the Desolation Wilderness. It’s one mile to Granite Lake, 2.7 miles to an intersection with the Eagle Falls Trail,four Miles to Azure Lake, and five miles to Dick’s Lake. Corral and watering facilities for horses are available at the trail head.

This short trail hike affords stunning views of the 200 foot high falls and Cascade Lake. The best time of year is to visit is spring, when runoff from snow melt is high.

Eagle Falls Trail

This steep trail hike leads into the heart of Desolation Wilderness, passing by several lakes along the way. Eagle Lake is only one mile and a popular destination for day hikers looking to picnic or take a swim. It’s 4.5 miles to Dicks Lake, Upper Velmas, and Middle Velmas and five miles to Fontanillas.

This uphill hike leads you through the aspen-lined North Canyon to Marlette Lake Dam. Marlette Lake is a fish hatchery, so anglers should leave their gear at the resort.
